It’s hard when people say, “You’ll know when it’s time” because none of us want to make that decision.
I’ll save you the decision for when that time comes: call Dr. Paula. Set up a time and spend the interim loving your pet and every ensuing moment. You won’t regret it, quite the opposite.
My Rottweiler, Vince, was my world. I would do anything for him. I didn’t sleep for the last six months of his life, I fed him in a “bailey chair”, sitting upright, two to three times a day, for his last four months. I would’ve kept doing it as long as it maintained a good quality of life for him. But, there comes a time when we have to make one of the most difficult decisions of our lives because our pet’s quality of life starts to decline.
Dr. Paula Monte takes the difficulty out of the decision.
I can’t fill this space with enough positive things to say about the experience. Dr. Paula is professional, kind, compassionate, and clearly communicates everything going on before, during, and after the process. I was right there with my buddy the whole time. Dr. Paula gave us a beautiful moment that I look back on and treasure. I can’t think of a more comforting solution to something none of us want to do. Dr. Paula and Dave even followed up with some grieving information afterwards, which was very thoughtful.
I’m sorry if your pet’s quality of life is declining and you’re reading this. I understand how difficult the entire situation is because I just went through it. The gambit of emotions is difficult. Having Dr. Paula come to the house and take care of everything made it easier. Call her!

Dr Paula Monte was outstanding. Not only did she accommodate us on short notice but the compassionate care she showed my large 13 year old sister dogs was wonderful. She was affectionate and kind to them as she explained everything to us. I could not have asked for a beautiful ending to those that gave us so much love.
-Deb B.
There are some experiences that are difficult to describe…This is one of them.
When we made the decision that our beautiful labradoodle needed to pass on we didn’t know what to do. We were blessed to be provided Paula’s name. She came to our house and met with us – there were no preconceived notions about what was going to happen, she just listened and observed our pup. She guided us, literally held our hand and helped us see that it was time. She came back the next day – giving us that night to be able to spoil him, sing to him, and shower him with love. When the day came, while you can never be ready to say goodbye, Paula was there to help us do this. I wish I could tell you what this meant to us…Hopefully my experience did.

When it was time for us to say goodbye to our sweet girl Oreo, we called Dr Paula. It was the very best decision for Oreo as she experienced no stress traveling to the vets office and could be in the comfort of her home. Dr Paula was so kind, understanding and professional and we are so thankful for her helping us through a difficult time. I highly recommend her services!

-Susan S.
Dr. Paula recently assisted me with letting my sweet dog, Norton, pass over to the Rainbow Bridge. It was a difficult time for me and my son, and Dr. Paula was kind, gentle, compassionate and consoling. She explained everything and made me so glad that we were able to say good bye to Norton in a familiar and calm environment without having to make another trip to the vet, which would have been very stressful.
-Donna E.
Our experience with Dr. Paula could not have been better. Communication, scheduling, and most importantly the compassion that she showed, guiding us through the process, were all perfect. We would highly recommend anyone who needs end of life services for their pet to use her. We feel lucky to have found her.

My heartfelt thanks to Dr Paula & Dave for helping my sweet dog Shadow leave this world. Shadow had taken a sudden turn for the worse, I let them know it was an urgent situation. They arrived in an hour. This was actually the second time they helped one of my sweet boys cross that bridge. Both times, the process was done with kindness, respect & compassion, my boys were able to pass calmly & peacefully & with love in my arms.
I chose cremation for each of them. Dr Paula & Dave took care of all the details & my boys’ ashes were treated with dignity & respect & returned to me in a beautiful remembrance package. With Shadow, Dr Paula & Dave went the extra mile & returned a pawprint to me, knowing it was important to me. It was an experience filled with gentleness & compassion for me & my dogs. Thank you, Dr Paula & Dave.
-Maureen C.
Dr.Paula, gently and with compassion , helped my 13 year old Lab pass with love to the Rainbow Bridge. Her caring manner made a difficult decision for my Nala , the best gift I could give her .
Dave was just as caring and giving us plenty of time to say our goodbyes. Dr.P and Dave are a blessing to our pets and pet parents.
-Helen B.
Dr. Paula was wonderful with Holly. She first recommended that we take Holly to a specialist to address her sudden loss of weight. When it became clear that there was nothing more to do, she helped me, my family, Holly and my other cat to work through the sadness of Holly’s passing, in a most caring and comforting manner.
-Sue M.
Dr. Paula Monte was just wonderful and so helpful to us and our beloved Phinney. She was compassionate and professional, and I honestly don’t know how we could have made it through this incredibly difficult time were it not for her (and her husband Dave). She is a treasure, and we will always be grateful to her.
Dr Paula and her staff were superb assisting us with our beloved dog Pearl’s end of life. They are the best. Thank you again.
-Barb G.
Can’t say enough about the care and compassion we received from Dr Paula and her team. Having Coco at home surrounded by family, peaceful and with the best treats in her final moments with us will always be treasured as the best possible ending to a life filled with unconditional for us, it was the least we could do for her!
I will always share my experience and highly recommend Dr. Paula and Litchfield Animal Wellness to anyone in a similar situation.
-Chris C.
Dr Paula was so compassionate and helped us thru a heartbreaking decision to bring Mia over the rainbow bridge – one day too soon is better than hour too late… looking back she was so right. Mia was enduring pain that I had a hard time seeing at first. After 16 wonderful years with our sweet pup we were able to be on our own home with no pressure or rush. Dr Paula came with hugs and follow up to check in on us too! I Highly recommend her and her team!
-Gilbert P.
Dr Paula Monte did a beautiful job of guiding us through the process of having to put our beloved akita Tori down at 14 years old. It was very peaceful, done at our home, in our living room with both of us by Tori’s side, she made a very difficult time as easy as possible. We are very grateful for her service, and she was very compassionate and respectful.
-Judy T.
Back in July, our beloved Springer Spaniel was very sick with cancer and we had to make the difficult decision to have him put to sleep. We received a recommendation for Litchfield Animal Wellness and Dr. Paula was able to juggle her schedule to come that same day. Dr. Paula was very empathetic, caring, reassuring and calm. She made a very difficult situation much more bearable and it was comforting to have it take place in our home. She checked on us afterward to see how we were doing, which again, speaks to her empathy and sensitivity. I would highly recommend Dr. Paula and Dave. Thank you!!

Very compassionate and caring people. We’re so grateful for your kindness and support you gave us. You made this painful decision the best it could have been. Thank you Dr Paula and David for all you have done for our beloved Harley.
-Mark C.
Dr. Paula was such and kind and caring veterinarian on one of the most difficult days of our life. We appreciate the thoughtful way she and her staff handled our phone calls, and her help on the day we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Maevie. Thank You.
-Christine P.
Dr. Paula is an angel to my dogs. Her expertise along with empathy and compassion are of the likes of which I have never witnessed before. I’ve had dogs my whole life with many interactions with veterinarians. I’ve spent thousands of hours of time as well as cost for these babies, who are my world; and she understands the love for our animals. I wish that she could bottle whatever animal whisperer components that she has could be bottled for other veterinarians. My babies and myself love you much Dr. Paula. Thank you.
-Deb H.
Dr Paula was so gentle, and reassuring during my dogs end of life care. She was so easy to be around during such a vulnerable time. We are so grateful she does what she does. I don’t know what we would have done if we didn’t have the option of a house call. It would have been a much different day. That’s for sure.

I would highly recommend Dr. Paula Monte’s services – Dr. Monte and Dave walked me through the step-by-step sorrowing process. From my first call to their office to the return of my pet (Rocco) they were compassionate, sincere and respectful during the entire heartbreaking process.
Should you or anyone you know, have to make the decision to say good-bye to your pet – please contact Dr. Paula Monte’s office.
Sincerely – Rocco’s mom – Patti
My 14 year old Dog became very ill and failing to thrive, unable to walk , stand, or eat, all treatments had been exausted. It was agonizing to watch her suffer. I elected to relieve her from her misery and have her euthanized. It was just before Memorial Day and my primary Veterinarian was unavailable. I was referred to Litchfield Animal Wellness and Dr. Paula Monte, I spoke with her staff about the situation, they were very professional, informative, understanding and compassionate and scheduled an in home euthanasia visit the next morning. When Dr. Paula arrived she evaluated her condition and concurred with the decision. She was very gentle and compassionate giving her a sedative to relax before the final injection. I was able to be with her when she passed and for a time before she was removed for cremation. Dr. Paula is a very empathetic, understanding and skilled professional, she guided me through the process making a very emotionally difficult event bearable. I highly recommend Dr. Paula Monte, Litchfield Animal Wellness , she is truly outstanding at her profession and I’m very grateful for her service.
-Don H.
Dr. Paula Monte was extremely kind and compassionate, as she guided us through the difficult process of letting our 12 (almost 13) year old chocolate lab rest in peace. She and her husband were the perfect mix of professional and personal. They both went above and beyond, and I’m incredibly grateful.
-Aimee N.

A rough day was made much easier by the kindness and caring of Dr. Paula. My Olaf had been through multiple back leg surgeries and then developed a inoperable tumor on a front leg. He couldn’t walk very far and was suffering. Dr. Paula helped us face the final decision to be able to give my Olaf a peaceful way out. She helped us through this time and decision with great care and empathy. I would recommend her if you are facing a similar challenge.

I am very grateful for the referral to Dr. Paula & David Monte. It was time for our fur baby Gunnar to cross the Rainbow Bridge. He was 14 1/2. A long life, in doggy terms for a GSD.
It is a hard decision, but when there is no more quality of life, it’s time. I called and spoke with David and arranged for in home euthanasia on a Thursday last month. On Wednesday, the night before, our Gunnar went on his own terms on the living room floor in front of the fireplace. I was hysterical… yes.. you know it is coming, but it still rips your heart apart. I called David that Weds evening, to let him know what happened. I wasn’t sure, now that he had passed, on his own, and not euthanized in the morning. He assured me, although out of the ordinary, but he would be by in the morning to take Gunnar to the Crematory for us. He would then bring back the remains in about 5 days. When he showed up, he had a small stretcher, laid a Doggy blanket on the stretcher, and with respect, and what felt like honor for Gunnar, lifted him onto the stretcher with the blankie covering just enough of him, he then left with him. We had our time to say goodbye.
Thank you, Dr. Paula & David Monte for what you do. You help more than you know.
-Maureen & Jamie, “Gunnar’s” Hoomans 🙂
Grappling with the timing of putting your darling pet to rest is what can only be described in the moment as an earth shattering decision. It’s something my family and I wrestled with quite a bit.
Edward AKA Schnoog or Schnoogaboog was 15 years young (at least..) Having Edward come into our lives was like getting to experience the most serendipitous true love that exists in the universe on a daily basis. Innocent, pure, sweet, endlessly kind, and loving. He was funny with so much personality and just one gait…full canter!
Edward was adored and spoiled and I wanted to honor him in death as we did in his life. I wanted him to go out peacefully and with dignity. I had all kinds of fears about the euthanasia itself, I stayed up late at night reading internet articles, and did nothing but fret and cry. I worried for nothing because it literally was perfect. Edward flew off on the Full Flower Moon in May while flower petals rained down around him in his own yard. A send off fit for the true prince he was!
Dr. Paula I don’t know how you do what you do each week, but I am tremendously, enormously grateful that you were there for Edward when it was time for him to go. Thank you so much. God Bless you and Dave!!!

How do you say goodbye to a dog, family member for that matter, after almost 14 years? It’s impossible. You feel guilty, selfish, hopeless but when it’s time you know it’s the right thing- despite every bit of your body telling you it’s wrong. Dr. Paula Monte and Dave helped us not only make our decision hurt a little less, but helped ease the transition from my first phone call to the minute our buddy came home. They spent time with us, listened to every concern or anxiety I had and truly cared for the being of our dog and our family! It’s not ever something anyone wants to do, but should you be lucky enough to help make their next journey peaceful, please call Dr. Monte and Dave. They are angels that walk on this earth. I don’t know how they do what they do day in and day out but without them I know our path wouldn’t have been walked as easily as it was with support along the way. My family and I are forever grateful and that’s an under statement.
-Casey W.
It was with a very heavy heart I had to call for Dr. Paula’s services. My 12 year old rescue was diagnosed with cancer and a heart condition and we were told we had anywhere from hours to weeks to say goodbye. It was after a very bad night that we knew it was time. Dr. Paula and Dave were both so empathetic and understanding. They were flexible and so quick to respond- even over the weekend while they were at their children’s soccer games. The care, consideration, and downright kindness from them made a horrible and devastating decision easier to make. I will forever and always recommend Dr. Paula’s services. ❤️ Thank you, Dr. Paula and Dave.
-Chrissie H.
We had to put our 15 year old Golden Izzie down in January after battling lymphoma for 2 months. She had been struggling heroically through her illness but that morning we realized that it was time to stop her suffering. It came up quickly as these things often do. I contacted Dave for the first time to request an appointment as soon as possible. He was wonderful, compassionate and reassuring answering all of my questions. Thankfully he and Dr. Paula were able to get to us early that afternoon.
Dr. Paul’s helped us through the process and gave us enough time to say our goodbyes. Our little Jack, Izzie’s best friend stayed with her through her passing. I have never done this at our home but will not do it any other way again. Our Izzie was relaxed and comfortable, with her best buddy and us by her side as she left us.
Dave took care of all of the arrangements and they even notified Izzie’s regular vet of her passing.
They were truly wonderful at a time when you can’t think straight and you are torn up with sadness.
I highly recommend them.
Thank you both!

Using Litchfield Animal Wellness was the best decision we could have made for our pup on his last day on earth. Starting from the intake phone call with Dave to the visit with Dr. Paula, it was the most calming experience and we knew our boy was in good hands. Highly recommend!!
-Cameran M.
I was referred by a friend, when I knew it was time to make the call I received a response within 20 minutes of leaving a message.
Dr. Paula made it to my house within 24 hours. She explained in great detail what to expect, as I had never been through this process before.
My dog felt no pain, and the process was extremely peaceful. Dr. Paula then gave us private time to say goodbye to our family member.
I am forever grateful for her patience and kindness. We didn’t feel rushed, she let us take our time to cry, and I truly felt we were her main priority that day. She even reached out the next day to see how we were holding up.
We received our dog’s ashes sooner than I had expected, delivered right to my house. I was extremely pleased with how the ashes were presented, in a lovely box with her name and a card, secured in a pretty velvet bag. The paw print came out fantastic.
I can’t recommend Paula enough… although nothing can lesson the blow of saying goodbye to your pet, it makes all the difference in the world allowing them to pass comfortably in your own home, and having someone patient and kind helping you through it.
-Katy L.
I’m very grateful for Dr. Paula’s in home services. She was kind, compassionate and thoughtful at a very difficult time. I appreciate her and will forever be grateful that I could say goodbye to my dog in the comfort of my home thanks to her.

Dr. Monte is honest and compassionate. Her professional acumen and keen observation are incredible. She guides her animal patients, as well as their human families, through each visit or procedure with kindness. Dr. Monte provides the level of care that every pet owner wants for their beloved family member. Additionally, her administrative team is efficient and responsive.
-Alison H.
Words alone cannot express how thankful our family is to have been connected with Dr. Paula through high recommendations.
She helped our Ellie cross the Rainbow Bridge with expertise and tremendous compassion.
All of the care that followed, up until we received the ashes, made a tragic circumstance more peaceful than we could have imagined.
We knew Ellie’s body was being held with care, and her ashes and paw print were presented so beautifully.
We truly felt this was a gift to our doggie friend; to be at home with her family in her final hours.
Thank you again, Dr. Paula!
-The Colgan family
Dr. Paula is wonderful. She is incredibly supportive, thorough, and patient. She guided us through a very difficult time with our beautiful dog and was a bright light in an otherwise impossibly sad situation.
-Melanie L.
One of most heartbreaking experiences in life is having to say goodbye to a beloved pet.
A couple of weeks ago, I had to do that to my little companion of 16 years.
Where there is naught to take the pain of loss away, save time, having Dr. Paula Monte lovingly ease his passing at our home peacefully and compassionately was a blessing for him and for me.
Dr. Paula and her husband, Dave have been an emotional support through my heartbreak.
For those who are facing this sad circumstance, I send the blessing of recommendation to LITCHFIELD ANIMAL WELLNESS.
-Sincerely, Rachel N.
An amazing service. Dr. Paula Monte was immediate to respond when I had first reached out about the decline in our dogs health and options regarding in home euthanasia. She was very informative about all available options. She scheduled a visit in an appropriate time frame. She was very calming while in the home and made the entire process more peaceful than you could imagine. Her and her husband then handled everything else including checking in with the family, a card in the mail, and delivering the ashes. Dr Monte is a positive light when you and your pet are going through a difficult time. I would recommend if you are in need of this service.

Began working with Dr. Paula in October of 2022. Her acupuncture treatments gave my Rhodesian Ridgeback another year of quality life. And when it was time to say goodbye, it was the most peaceful experience for our family. 14+ years of quality life – Thank you Paula! So grateful.
Paula also helped my other Ridgeback extend his quality of life before giving us a beautiful, kind, goodbye, in front of the fire, being held on our arms. There is no greater Christmas gift that I could give my boy than a peaceful loving goodbye. Thank you Paula!

Dr. Monte is such an amazing and thoughtful professional, and provides all that could be asked for. She enters your home, offers support and kindness and makes such a difficult moment bearable. I am writing this review for my cousin, Kris. Dr. Paula came to the house and Kris was very impressed and happy with her services and compassion during this hard time. This was by far the most peaceful and best experience he has had in the unfortunate scenario all pet owners do not look forward to. He highly recommends her and wanted me to put out a review saying how great she was. A big thank you to Dr. Paula from all of Champ’s family and friends.
-Corey K.
Our family is incredibly grateful to Dr. Monte for the compassionate care she provided during a difficult time. Our beloved, Woody, had been battling cancer, and we faced the heartbreaking decision to let him go. Dr. Monte came to our home, allowing Woody to pass peacefully in the comfort of his familiar surroundings, surrounded by loved ones and without fear.
We cannot thank Dr. Monte enough for making such a painful time more bearable and for giving Woody a peaceful, dignified passing. If you’re ever in need of end-of-life care for your pet, we wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Monte.

Losing a very loved family pet is one of the hardest experiences that no one looks forward to. Dr. Monte and Dave made the whole process less stressful and easier to manage the logistics of in-home euthanasia.
Our children were present when the procedure happened – Dr. Monte explained each step in a very caring way and treated our dog like he was her own. After he was gone, Dr. Monte carefully wrapped him in a blanket and secured him in the back of her car. Dr. Monte’s team arranged the cremation and return of his ashes back to us, all within a couple weeks.
They are the kindest, most professional individuals I have ever worked with and I anticipate we will continue to use Litchfield Animal Wellness for as long as we continue to have four-legged family members.
Thank you again, Dr. Monte & Dave. I hope you know how much we appreciate you and all you did for us.
-Rachel O.
What can I say about Dr. Paula. She came to our home and made a very difficult situation easier. She took the time to explain everything carefully to us. She guided us through and helped us understand what a wonderful gift we were giving to our beautiful dog, Zanna. I know she is not suffering now. I’m not sure I could possibly say enough kind words about Dr Paula. We are forever grateful for your help. It is my hope that you will continue to help other dogs cross over the Rainbow Bridge, peacefully, and with their families by their side, and in their favorite place. What a great gift. Thank you for giving us this.
-Glennie
We recently had to say goodbye to our Summer girl after 15 1/2 years. Dr Paula was so wonderful and comforting and explained everything in such a caring way. She helped make such a difficult situation a little bit better for our family and more importantly our beautiful Summer. Thank you❤️

Dr. Monte came to our house to help us take our best boy over the rainbow bridge compassionately and gently. It helped us so much through an extremely sad time.
-Joanne C.
Just an unbelievable, compassionate and heartwarming experience from start to finish. On one of our worst days, Dr. Paula was amazing. She treated our pup if he was her own, and made his last moments calm and comfortable – surrounded by love. Sad to this day that he is gone, but couldn’t be more appreciative of Dr. Paula. Champ’s last moments were peaceful, on his beloved bed, and munching on Chicken Marsala! We will be forever grateful for that.
-Stephen S.
Paula and Dave were incredibly kind and empathetic. They helped talk us through and make the best decision for our sweet dog without any judgment – only compassion.

Paula and David were so helping and supportive during our very difficult time with our beloved Mya. She took a turn for the worse and Paula and David worked to get us scheduled same day so that Mya wouldn’t suffer. Deciding to euthanize her was so hard but what helped Mya and us was the opportunity to do it in our home where she would be comfortable on her bed and we could have some peaceful time with her to say goodbye. I would highly recommend when it’s your pets time to do it in the comfort of your and your pets home and Litchfield Animal Wellness was the best!! Thank you Paula and David

Not only was the appointment set up with such empathy and clarity from the get-go, but the care given to my cat during the procedure was done with dignity, love, and sympathy. Dr.Paula is an angel sent from heaven, I am so grateful for all the care she and her team did for my cat and family.

We said goodbye to our beloved dogs, Lady (April 2021) and Jackson (October 2024) and both times we chose Dr. Monte to help us through that difficult time. Dr. Monte is so compassionate and understanding. We have recommended her to several family members and friends. It is so important to have your pet in their own home, with the people they love, when the that time comes to say goodbye. Thank you, Dr. Monte, for doing what you do and for being there when we needed you. ♥️🐾

Called in Dr. Paula Monte on short notice for home euthanization of my much beloved 17 year old kitty who was very ill. From the start, Dr. Monte and her staff were very kind and responsive – including making an extra effort find an earlier appointment when it became clear the cat was declining so quickly. On arrival at my home, she took care of what could have been a traumatic process with great compassion. She explained each step and also made recommendations regarding how to handle my other elderly cat’s well-being during and after the process. Follow up was superb with a text the following day and written note a few days later which was very comforting. Very highly recommend!
-Margot M.
Dr. Paula was amazing. She helped us through a very difficult time. She was kind, professional, and compassionate. I thank her for her services and recommend her.

Pet owners need to know about Dr. Paula Monte and her end of life care. She came to our house and observed our beloved dog which enabled us to make the difficult decision to euthanize. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Monte for the peaceful, beautiful way our 15 year old family dog died–without pain or fear. Having our dog’s life end at home, not at the vet office, was truly a blessing.
-Julie S.
The loss of our beloved Toby was the worst day of our life. But Dr. Monte made it easier on our souls than I thought it would be.
When the time came, Dr. Monte came to our home to help our dog pass peacefully, in the comfort of his own environment – not on a cold metal table.
She took her time with us, made sure we understood the process, and made accommodations whenever possible to make us as comfortable as possible. We didn’t feel like just another client – we felt like her ONLY client.
When Toby’s ashes were returned to us, it was done with love and care. As David said, with love and reverence, “Toby is home.” Dr. Paula followed up with a hand-written note and check-in texts.
Thank you so much Dr. Monte & David <3 I will forever be singing your praises, and recommend your service to all pet lovers.
-Devan B.
I cannot express my gratitude to Dr. Paula…her compassion and kindness was beyond explanation. I had never had to put a pet to sleep and was terribly upset at the concept. I knew I was going to have to say goodbye to my dog after 15 years, but couldn’t bring myself to make the decision. I called Dr. Paula’s number and her assistant was wonderful and understanding taking into consideration that I’d told him my Mom was dying also. He reached out to the Dr and she came to my home, put me at ease with her gentle touch and help me say goodbye to our girl. She texted me the next day and sent me a lovely card a few days later. For such an unpleasant task, she made it bearable and now I have no doubt that I did the right thing. I’ve told everyone I know of her special kindness and compassion. Thank you Dr. Paula❤️
-Lisa G.
Paula is empathetic, caring and supportive. She was able to comfort our family while doing what was required in a tender, courteous and professional manner at our home. There are numerous steps and logistics involved and she described the path while not making it feel like a transaction. She put our pet first and then put herself in our situation. Paula and Dave truly provide a wonderful service.
-David S.
Dr. Paula is as kind and compassionate as they come. From the moment we reached out to her to make plans to say goodbye to our beloved beagle, Dr. Paula made sure she was always communicating, providing guidance and explaining the expectations of what was to come. She was respectful and caring knowing that our family was grieving and navigating a difficult experience. I can’t recommend her enough 🐾 🌈 ✨
-Colleen
I had the amazing opportunity to have Dr. Paula come to my home for my beloved dog, Buddy. He was 16 years old and she took great care of him and me and my family. We talked about all of our options before hand which was a relief because if I had to make any decisions after, I would have been too emotional. She was so compassionate, caring, understanding, everything I needed at that time. She provided such amazing emotional support. This was my first experience with at home euthanasia. I’ll never go back to the vets office again for this. Having my dog at home with me surrounded by his family was the best parting gift I could have given him and Dr. Paula made that possible.
-Erin D.
Dr. Paula allowed us to spend our last very difficult moments with our best boy where he was happiest, under his big tree in the sun at our farm. We are forever grateful.
-Amy
I can not say enough positive things about Litchfield Animal Wellness. I found out on a Friday afternoon that my cat had to be put to sleep. I called and left a voice mail to see if Dr. Paula worked on weekends. Dave called me back almost immediately and scheduled Dr Paula to come to my home the following morning so my cat would not suffer any longer than necessary. She arrived as planned and was kind, empathetic and professional. She treated both the cat and my son and me with gentleness and understanding. She made sure my cat was comfortable until he went to heaven.
Although the overall cost was high, it was well worth the money to have my cat in Dr Paula’s care. I would recommend her without hesitation.

After about a half year battle with metastatic melanoma, our family decided to let our sweet girl, Matilda/ Tilly go.
Through a chance encounter with a restaurant worker who related to my daughter and I that his family had recently had to say goodbye to their best friend.
We received a strong recommendation for Litchfield Animal Wellness/ Dr. Paula Monte.
When I made my first call to get information, I and my daughter were not quite sure if it was time, the doctors team member, David was prompt and very helpful with everything.
He stayed in touch and once our decision was made, he was incredibly helpful with all the details.
Dr. Paula Monte… when she showed up, that day, we had congregated outside in special spot on our property, she joined us, she gently walked us through all the important information all the while as tears flowed she helped us feel comfortable and acknowledged every bit of what we were going through so we could focus all of our love and goodbyes and not be distracted by anything besides our girls last beautiful moments with us on Earth..
Perhaps one of the hardest things to do in life…. We could not have asked for more.
With all sincerity and appreciation, this organization and especially Dr. Paula Monte,
My family thanks you Litchfield Animal Wellness from the bottom of our hearts.
-Chris C
Dr Paula was professional, compassionate and sensitive through our time of saying goodbye to our little girl. She showed great care and knowledge in the process that those who own pets know is not an easy one.
I would highly recommend her to those that have to say goodbye to their four-legged loved ones.
-Elinor L.
Dr. Paula is so compassionate. This is the second time we’ve unfortunately needed her services for a furry loved one. Both times she came to our home she was so reassuring, comforting, and timely. She made sure to get to us to help our beloved dogs as quickly as she could. My family and I will forever be grateful.
-Naomi N.
Dr Paula was very kind, compassionate and very caring as well as professional. Extremely tender
(David was very good at his correspondence and following up as well as kind).

Dr Paula helped us say goodbye to our sweet cat Maxx. Her compassion and professionalism helped my husband and I (and Maxx’s sister cat TJ) through this very sad and difficult time. I would whole heartedly recommend Dr. Paula to any family who needs end of life care for their beloved pets.
-Caroline V.
Dr. Paula came to our home to provide euthanasia services to our dear senior dog. Dave was very responsive and got us in with the doctor within hours so she did not have to suffer and longer than necessary.  Dr. Paula was clearly very knowledgeable as well as compassionate, empathetic and completely respectful and honoring of our grieving process. Our dog had gone out in the yard and did not want to come inside, so Dr. Paula even went into our bushes to provide the euthanasia right where our girl wanted to be. It was such a hard day, but Dr. Paula made it as warm and beautiful as it could have been. We could not recommend her more highly.
-Christina L.
Dr. Paula was amazing in such a sad time for

-Hilary M.
Dr. Paula was amazing. She made a very difficult experience rather beautiful.
-Timothy R.
Dr. Paula is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and kind. Our 13 year old dog, loved her and looked forward to her visits~ we all did and because of her, we were able to enjoy another full year with our sweet pup! She is simply the best!
-Lori H.
I was not able to bring Sadie to my Vets because she had failed very quickly and getting her into my car would have been way too much for her to handle. Dr Paula came to my house and was very gentle and caring. The whole experience was more comforting than I could have imagined. She sent a text the next day to see how I was doing and then a sympathy card a day later. She and David treated Sadie very respectfully.
-Nancy M.
Dr. Monte made our hardest day into one that was beautiful and peaceful. She explained everything that we could expect to experience and constantly reassured us on the decision to help our sweet girl, Lucy, pass on. She is empathetic, kind and compassionate. There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude for your presence that day. Thank you Dr. Monte.
-Amanda H.
I cannot find the right words to describe how Dr. Paula helped us in one of the most difficult times of our lives. It was time to say goodbye to our 16 year old Goldendoodle.
She reminded us of what a beautiful life he had while all we could focus on was losing him. In soothing words she explained what would happen and gave our family as much time as we needed to say goodbye.
Having this service in our own home where Tucker was comfortable meant everything to us.
Though today was really a tough day, I would recommend Dr. Paula to anyone who needs to say goodbye with love and dignity.

Dr. Paula and Dave were so very kind and professional when it came time to put my beloved Nicky to sleep. Dr. Paula came to my house and explained everything that would happen to us. I got to hold Nick and sing to him while she gently sedated him and let him go.

I am truly grateful for Dr. Paula and her kindness during such a heartbreaking time. I highly recommend her services.

Dr Paula was fantastic. She was empathetic and caring. She let us take the time we needed to say goodbye to our Sadie girl. Thank God she does what she does. It was far less stressful for Sadie and us, not having to bring her to the vet. I recommend, if you find yourself in a situation that may require her services. It is worth it 🙏🏼🌈🐶
-Jennifer D.
I met Dr. Paula & her husband when Ekevu, my beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback became ill. They were so very kind and supportive and gave us all a wonderful gift by helping him pass peacefully. He was surrounded by his family who adored him, in his home where he was born almost 11 years ago.
-Barbara F.
I can absolutely recommend Dr. Paula and Dave. This was the second time that I asked them to come to my home and care for my dogs. Dr. Paula and Dave are so empathic and careful, they honor my dogs and understand what a difficult moment this is for my family. I so appreciate them.
-Carol G.
I cannot say enough about the calming experience our family had with Dr. Paula at such a difficult time.
Pumpkin was part of our family for 14 years and the compassion we experienced from this group was amazing and so appreciated…I highly recommend when making such a difficult decision, you include this team in your call.
-Nancy L.
Sadly, our big boy recently crossed the rainbow bridge at 13.5 years old after 2.5 cancer free years!
Dr. Paula had been coming to give him weekly acupuncture treatments for the past year and always looked him over at each visit to give me her assessment of how he was doing. She treated him with kindness, respect and he was always happy to see her (dogs know a good person).
Dr. Paula was always interested in his recent scans and oncology visits. I greatly appreciated Dr. Paula’s honesty all throughout her time with us as we discussed his ongoing care and return of the cancer. Over the past year, Dr. Paula and I have had several discussions about when and if we need to make a decision on his quality of life and these talks, while difficult, were highly beneficial. When she told me she felt he was in decline, I trusted her and knew she was right.
She explained everything to us and if a euthanasia could be beautiful it was indeed beautiful. It was peaceful, compassionate and filled with love as our big boy crossed the rainbow bridge in his happy place in our backyard, surrounded by those who loved him.
We are forever grateful to Dr. Paula and Dave!
-Karen J.
I contacted Dr Paula as my 13 year old dog began to show symptoms of pain and general loss of function due to old age. Dave was incredibly kind and helpful in deciding when was the right time to say goodbye.
When the time came, Dr Paula came to our home with the most kind and warm energy as well as thorough explanation and expert medical skills. As brutally sad as it was to say goodbye, we should all be so lucky to have as sweet and pain free ending as our pup. We sat with her and loved on her as she quietly went to sleep for the last time.
I cannot recommend this means of assisting your pet out of this life enough and when the time comes, Dr Paula is the person to seek out. She is an amazing spirit and a skilled vet. We are indebted to her for helping us through this awfully sad time.

Paula and Dave are superb humans. They made the experience so comfortable. If you’re facing this decision with your fur babies, do not hesitate to talk to these folks. Thank you again to both of you. 😌🐾❤️

Dr. Paula was so kind and professional and helpful during this very emotional and sad time. She explained everything to me as this was my first time. She was also comforting to me and patience with my other dog who wanted to sniff and see everything. I would unequivocally rate Dr. Paula as the best possible option you could find for in-home, end-of-life services for you pet. She also arranged to take my dog to the crematory for me as the experience is so devastating, I couldn’t drive.
So happy we have veterinarians like her who do such meaningful work!

We cannot recommend Dr. Paula and Dave enough if you are in the difficult and sad position of having to put down your pet. They were so compassionate, caring and patient with us as we made that painful decision for our sweet GSD Belle. Dr. Paula has a very calm demeanor and Belle was very relaxed with her, even licking her face. We are very grateful to them for their services.
-Karen K.
Having a dog can bring you some of the best days of your life, and also one of the worst. Dr. Paula certainly helped us on one of our worst. She came to our house, and took plenty of time to get to know our DJ and us. She explained each step of the procedure as she very gently helped our dog through.
Dr. Paula then gave us all the private time we needed to to say goodbye to our boy. As we had discussed before, we let her take care of all the other arrangements, so the only other thing we had to do was decide where we wanted to put DJ’s cremains when they brought him back to us at our house. Dr. Paula even checked back with us a couple times, making sure we were doing ok.
Highly recommend.
-Dan F.
Dr. Paula Monte was highly recommended. She expertly guided me through an emotionally painful but necessary decision regarding my dog. I cannot imagine anyone providing greater concern and care.
-Thomas H.
Dr. Monte made an unbearable situation tolerable.
Her kindness, empathy and compassion for both my dog Henry and our family was a real gift. And her follow up afterwards was such a comfort.
Thank you, Dr. Monte.🙏🏼
-Michael H.
Dr Paula was incredibly kind, sensitive, and personable whilst still being extremely professional… She helped make a very sad experience as compassionate as possible. From an hour-long phone call with her husband/partner the day before, to the follow-up texts and beautiful card/poem just a few days after our beloved pet’s passing, the whole experience was nothing but caring, loving, sensitive and genuine. I would recommend Dr Paula wholeheartedly to any friend who loves their pet and wants the very best care for them at the end of life.

Dr Paula was so compassionate and kind. It was so difficult for us to lose our beloved wolfhound. She came to the house and assured us that we were doing the right thing. My wife is still grieving and deeply devastated after a month. I would recommend Dr Paula to anyone that needs her help. Thank you Dr Paula and David
-David R.
Dr. Paula is one of the most caring people we have met, she is very understanding of the emotions that we were feeling and made us feel at peace with our decision for our Sadie to go to sleep, we did not want her to suffer.
Her and the staff I talked to are very caring people.
-Charlotte F.
Dr. Paula is one of the most kind, conscientious vets I have ever met. She takes your pets end of life experience with compassionate care. In those hardest of times she is there to help and console. I recommend her and her team highly.
Honestly there are no words I could write to thank you for helping me with a very hard time.  I know you both came to us and touched my life in a very kind & compassionate way.  For that I will be forever grateful.

I can not recommend Dr. Paula Monte more highly. I have had the good fortune to have met her over 4 years ago through my dog walker because my 7 year old Collie, Lotte, was limping, showing signs of early arthritis and in general, slowing down; way too early for her to be acting this way at her age.
Dr. Paula started treating her with a multi-faceted approach: bimonthly hands on acupuncture and chiropractic techniques, which she augments with herbs, supplements and anti-arthritic injections. Lotte is a different animal now and absolutely loves her treatment time! We have another Collie, Laddie, treated occasionally, because he is prone to whipping his big long body out of alignment, gets sore and needs an adjustment. My dogs are happier and more exuberant than ever! These are my 7th and 8th Collies (3 growing up) and oh how I wish we found Dr Paula for my others!
I also wanted to comment on Dr. Paula’s demeanor and professionalism. As a former Head Nurse at B&W  in Boston, I have very high standards. She does not disappoint! Most importantly, my dogs love her! But so do we! She is a delight to work with and to have in our home to treat our dogs. We are privileged to have her as part of our team!
Though saying goodbye to our dog, Oakley was one of the most difficult decisions we’ve ever made, Dr. Paula was truly wonderful. She was able to accommodate us quickly into her busy schedule, explained what to expect and was so patient and kind. The process was quick and peaceful and was the best final gift we could have given to our dog, in his home surrounded by cheese and those who love him. Despite the fact that she was heading out of town, she made time to check in on us the following day, sent us a very sweet card and Dave (who was also so kind and thoughtful) reached out and returned Oakley’s ashes in a timely manner.
I highly recommend Dr. Paula and her services and will forever be thankful for her help and support.
Dear Dr. Paula –
Thank you so much for your kindness throughout the process of saying goodbye to our beloved little Bruin.
You and David were both very attentive and respectful to us and most especially Bruin which we are so grateful.
Making the decision to euthanize a beloved pet is very difficult. Having Dr. Paula come into our home and talking us through the process and answering any questions we had made it much more personal and loving. Our Koda was only 2 when cancer destroyed his body. Dr. Paula was kind enough to keep in touch with me in the 2 months leading up to our decision to finally end Koda’s pain.
It takes a special person to do what Dr. Paula does for so many families. I would recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Monte came to our home to euthanize our very sick girl. It was done so well, the kindness and gentleness of Dr. Monte made it a precious and heartfelt goodbye. The hardest day of my life, but I’m so glad we had Dr. Monte to walk us through it.
Dr. Monte is simply the best.
Her bedside manner with animals is first rate.
I’ve known her for years. She has treated several of my animals and some my neighbor’s, too. I have an anxious rescue dog right now who Paula is treating. The dog was hit by a car when she was a stray. Acupuncture seems to have resolved her back pain, and my very wary, vigilant dog is comfortable with the treatments and even very friendly when the doctor pays a visit. I highly recommend.
It’s been 18 months that Dr. Monte has provided acupuncture for our 15 1/2 yr old Golden Doodle and her care has helped our furry boy lead a relatively comfortable life while his back legs are slowly failing him.
Dr. Monte’s support has also helped us emotionally; since caring for a senior ailing dog who is a beloved member of our family has been so difficult.
We are incredibly grateful for her kindness and professional care for our furry son.
Dr. Monte (Paula) is honestly one of the most compassionate people we have met in our interactions with folks who have helped our dogs. Over the years, we have had a number of folks come to our home to assist our “kids” in their passing on to the next lives and they have all been great. That said, Dr. Monte went beyond anything we have experienced with her explanations of the process and interactions with Maeve Macree, our other dogs, and us.
She is truly a gift and we can’t recommend her more.
Thank you for once again making a painful goodby a little easier for us.  We are beyond grateful for all that you and your husband have done for us.

There are no perfect words to express how grateful I am for Dr. Paula.
Her compassion, honesty, advice, and care for my girl were far above expectation. We did a quality of life assessment and a chiropractic adjustment the first visit. Our next visit was going to be the same, but it turned into an end of life visit. Between the first and second visit, Dr. Paula was helpful with added advice and words of kindness and support. With Dr. Paula’s help we were able to have a loving, peaceful passing honoring Sami’s life. She also directed me to resources to help with the grief I was feeling after Sami’s passing.
Having said goodbye to my first dog in a vet setting and now an in home setting with Dr. Paula. I would recommend the later to everyone who considers it. I’d especially recommend Dr. Paula, who truly makes sure you are not rushed and can just be there with your fur baby.
Dr. Paula was incredibly compassionate and kind. We had to say farewell to our pup of 16 years and Dr. Paula assured us it was time. She told us she gave our sweet girl angel wings which resonated so deeply.
Her services are compassionate. She truly cares about animals and their human best friends. She helped us process a very sad time for our family and we are grateful.
I was so happy with Dr. Paula. I was such a mess having to say goodbye to my Tuck and she had so much compassion and total understanding of my feelings. I do know Tuck if could not continue living with his disease and she helped by giving him peace.
-Carolyn W

Dr. Paula was incredible kind and thoughtful at one of the worst times of our lives. She explained the entire procedure before anything was done. She did not rush us and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye to our dog.
She responded to our call quickly.
She is extremely compassionate and you can tell how much she cares for animals.
I recommend her so highly if you have to deal with this situation for you animal.
Wouldn’t it be great if everyone in this would was as kind as she is!!
Thank you Dr. Paula for making the worst situation for us more bearable. We will never forget your kindness.

Dr. Monte and Dave recently guided us through the process of saying goodbye to our 15 year old beloved family dog. Our family was so grateful for their professional and compassionate guidance. We definitely recommend them to anyone.

Dr. Paula is just wonderful. She is a smart and caring Vet . We should all be so lucky to have her caring for our 4 legged family members.

Absolute compassion, realistic, and explains every step of the process. Thank you Dr. Paula for providing this service 2 times for our beloved senior dogs.

Dr. Paula is so kind and compassionate. She explained the timing and process every step of the way. She was patient and understanding. We had lots of time together to say goodbye to our Maddie. Dr. Paula turned a heartbreaking time into one last loving memory.

We are SO grateful for Dr. Paula and her kindness and compassion as she helped us say goodbye to our cat.
Given his declining quality of life because of cancer, she reassured us about our decision and that it was the kindest thing we could do for him. He was lying on the sofa when she arrived, and when she sat down next to him, he climbed into her lap. It was as if he knew she was there to help him with the next step in his journey. She walked us through every step, and it was the best possible experience we could have asked for — he died happily, peacefully, and surrounded by the people who loved him, instead of waiting until it was a crisis situation or a trip to the emergency clinic (which we have done before, and it was terrible).
We couldn’t recommend Dr. Paula more highly, and we are so thankful.

Dr. Paula is so compassionate, caring and knowledgeable! Our canine kids are very active in sports and they need chiropractic adjustments to keep them in tip top shape. She comes to our house once a month for adjustments (and acupuncture when needed).
We are not looking forward to the day we have to say goodbye to them but when it happens it will be nice to have Dr. Paula come to our house to make it as peaceful as possible.
We love Dr. Paula💕
Torque & Eilidh

I can not recommend Dr. Paula enough should you find yourself at the inevitable end of a beloved pet’s life. She was both professional and compassionate in dealing with not only our beloved 16 year old cat, but also my husband and I. She explained all the steps of what would happen, giving us everything we needed in making our final goodbyes. She truly understood both the difficulty of the situation and the idea that it was the most humane decision for our boy Emilio. She was able to come to our home instead of having to further stress our cat with a car ride and trip to the vet, and he was able to peacefully pass with us in his own home, which could be the best last wish we could have granted him. While I do not envy Dr. Paula’s position in this situation, I admire her beyond words for providing such a kind service with absolute grace and kindness.

She was amazing and made us feel very comfortable. Which made this decision in our life much easier. Very professional and pleasant. We would highly recommend her!

Dr. Monte came quickly for a home visit and was kindness itself to us. She was efficient and handled all of the subsequent details. Overall I can say that she treated us all well, both humans and elderly pup and I highly recommend her.

We wanted to express our thanks and gratitude for making the most difficult time comforting and heartfelt.  Your compassion, empathy and kind words really made us feel at ease with letting Kingston rest in peace.
Thank you for doing what you do.  We couldn’t have imagined it any other way.

Dr. Paula was so informative and assuring. She made my Coopers last moments so peaceful.

I cannot give enough accolades to Dr. Paula Monte and her husband David. I wanted to provide my 20 year old cat the most stress-free end to her life.
Choosing Litchfield Animal Wellness and specifically Dr. Paula was the best decision I made.
From scheduling the appointment; explanations what to expect to the actual experience was seamless. I was able to provide the most loving and peaceful transition to the rainbow bridge. My cat was able to sleep in her bed with her favorite blanket and her face in the sunshine surrounded by her furry siblings and loved ones.
Dr. Paula Monte provided the most peaceful setting in the most difficult moment. I highly recommend her services for anyone who needs to euthanize their pet.

We very recently had to make the excruciatingly difficult decision to send our 10-year-old lab to heaven. He became very sick suddenly and after receiving the devastating diagnosis of metastatic cancer we took a few days to say good- bye and called Dr. Paula.
She was amazing! She was calming and gentle and very compassionate. She took her time with us and with our sweet Digger. She was reassuring and explained everything step by step. We never felt rushed or dismissed if we had any questions.
She made an awful situation as easy as possible. Dr Paula followed up with a text and a card. It is never an easy decision to help an animal die peacefully, but we are glad we had the choice and Digger was able to be home in his own bed and with his family when he took his last breath. I highly recommend Dr. Paula and Litchfield Animal Wellness.

Dr. Paula Monte is amazing. She treated my dog Siri with acupuncture for 6 1/2 years and what a difference in her quality of life. She stopped limping when she got up and had quite a few more years being the hell raiser she was born to be. When it came time for Siri to wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge, Dr. Monte euthanized her at home, stress free for a dog afraid of the vets office. I wholeheartedly recommend Litchfield Animal Wellness without any reservation! Thank you.

I have to be totally honest, I was a little hesitant to call because my buddy Ineko was one in a million. He helped me through a very difficult time in my life and I wanted him to have “the best” for what can be a very difficult decision to euthanize your pet. “Dr. Paula” was one of the nicest, sweetest and most empathetic Veterinarians I have ever had the pleasure to know. She took her time, and explained everything she was doing and why. As a 10-year veteran Hospice nurse, I know what it takes to take people into your confidence with something as “final” as euthanasia. She gave my best friend a gift unlike any other, the ability to trust her implicitly in the briefest of moments. Dr. Paula brought her assistant to help get Neko onto a “doggie stretcher” and gently placed a blanket on him to load him into their van. Of course, I didn’t break down until after they were gone, but I felt a wonderful bond with Dr. Paula during a very stressful time in my life. I couldn’t imagine it being anyone else. She was wonderful and I personally want to thank her for her kindness.
In about a week, Neko came home to me and is lovingly placed where I can see him anytime I like.

Choosing to have my dog put down at age 13 was difficult and caused me a great deal of guilt. My first interaction was with Dave on the phone, who spent 45 minutes talking with me. When the fateful day arrived and Dr. Paula arrived at my apartment, it was obvious I was in the right hands. She walked me through each step and put me at ease. The procedure was peaceful, and at the end, I knew I had done the right thing by my faithful companion. I am grateful to a friend, who had also used Litchfield Animal Wellness. Given the circumstances, things could not have gone any better. Many thanks to Dr. Paula and Dave.

My Family and I recently had to make the very tough decision on our 13-year-old dog. I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Paula Monte and Dave Monte on the care, support and understand they provided during this difficult process. This is never an easy decision to make as your pet gets older. Our dog was a huge part of our family. Dr. Paula listened to our concerns and provided information to us so we could make the right decision. When we made this tough decision Dr. Paula asked us what we wanted and how we wanted to proceed. The care, love and support she showed our dog Daphne was second to none. Paula and Dave followed up with us via text and phone after to check in on us, we received a card from them a week after the difficult decision. We also had a paw print done which was hand delivered by Dave. They made this very difficult process easier for us and they were there for us every step of the way. I would highly recommend Dr. Paula to anyone that has to make the tough decision on a family pet.

Dr, Paula is simply one of the kindest human beings. It is never easy to lose a pet, but her empathy and kindness helps your pet pass with dignity. We highly recommend Dr. Paula.

Unexpectedly we had to end the life of our beloved pet, Mr Paws, due to a recent cancer diagnosis. We are very fortunate we found Dr. Paula who helped us through the process at home with such compassion and professionalism.
We have highly recommended her to our animal loving friends.
Thank you Dave for all your help and understanding as well.
Forever grateful! Laura and Rob

For three years, Dr. Monte provided skilled and compassionate acupuncture treatments my dog which enabled her to live more comfortably. When the sad time came, Dr. Monte provided the opportunity to provide a gentle, calm and loving goodbye. I wish I had been able to do this for all my dogs.

Dr. Paula came into our home and helped our darling Teddy cross over the rainbow bridge. Although we had not met her before, she seemed like she’d known our pup all along. She was not in a rush and was unbelievably kind yet so professional. She just seemed to know how and when to support us. The pain of losing Teddy was made easier by the experience and tenderness of Dr. Paula, he was so peaceful and calm. She was also helpful in giving us advice on managing our other dogs allowing them to understand the process. I feel like Dr. Paula is now part of our family and we are ever grateful for her.

We are grateful for Dr. Paula. She was professional, warm, and offered us comfort during such a heartbreaking time. She contacted us about a week later to see how we were doing. Highly recommend Dr. Paula and her team.

Our deepest gratitude for your divine intervention with our sweet Lily. It was truly the most difficult choice for us and you were so kind and tender with all of us. We will never forget you. Thank you for loving our Lily.

We were referred to Dr. Paula Monte by our veterinarian after our precious Golden Retriever, Sandy, was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma that had spread throughout her body after a long courageous fight to this devastating illness.
Our first call to Dr. Paula was responded to by Dave who immediately sent us the Quality of Life Wellness Check List for Sandy.
The next step for us was to have Dr. Paula come to our home to assess Sandy for quality of life and provide us with information and guidance so we would know when we would have to put her to access end of life care for her.
It was a heartbreaking decision we had to make and Sandy really did not want us to know how ill she was and she only wanted to stay with us. The tumors were very dangerous as they could cause her to bleed to death at anytime.
Dr. Paula provided calm, gentle, and kind support and guidance to help us work through the process. Sandy had a very peaceful and kind ending to her life. Dr. Paula guided us through the process explaining every step and giving support along the way. I was able to support Sandy as she continued her journey to heaven peacefully and with love.
Joe and I highly recommend Litchfield Animal Wellness because of the professional caring support and expertise in veterinary care. We are forever grateful to Dr. Paula and Dave for all they did for our family. They helped to make the process of losing a special member of our family, Sandy, a little easier for us because of the caring support and clinical skills of Dr. Paula.

Thank you so much for the condolences that you sent following Scooter’s passing. We really appreciated your kindness and compassion to make his passing as gentle as it could be. We are still adjusting to life without him and know that we will always love and miss him.

Paula was most amazing to our family in a very difficult time. She helped us to make the right decision for our dog and supported us through the whole process. She even checked in with us after to see how we were doing. I would highly recommend her for her services. Thanks for all you did Paula and all you continue to do for the health and well being of our beloved pets.

I’d like to extend to you our deepest and most loving thanks for your help win bringing Toby to peace.  He was our most treasured baby and it means so much to me that we could help him pass in such a loving peaceful way.  I’d like to thank you also for your sensitivity in your conversations and communication with our family. You will always hold a dear place in my heart.

These past eleven years with June have been magical. From watching her take her first steps into the ocean to her last. I’ve always viewed her as my co-pilot in our adventures and above all my closest friend. As her beard took on more grey and her frolicking slowed to a steady pace, I often wondered what her last day might look like and who would be there. I sensed it might just be the two of us and I wrestled with that not being enough for my girl. Having you there to navigate such an incredibly difficult moment brought me and Junie such peace. And I will forever be grateful to your kindness to us both. Thank you for helping my sweet girl fall asleep for the last time. It has meant everything to me.

Thank you so much for your kind card. Buddah truly was my best friend. It has been nothing less than the hardest week of my life thus far, but I am finding peace knowing he was so sickly and is now resting peacefully with us.
I cannot thank you enough for what you have done for him as well as our family. There were absolutely no surprises, you fully prepared us and let us grieve as we wished. You were very peaceful and calm which were both necessary qualities in the process; something I had not experienced at a vet’s office before.
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!

Dr. Monte was very compassionate to our situation. She made us realize that our very difficult decision was the best decision for our fury family member. She came to our home where he was very comfortable in his own bed and our other fury family member could be present throughout the peaceful process. We gave our precious pet some dark chocolate Hershey kisses to distract him at rh start of the process and he loved the flavor and wanted more! This brought smiles to all of us. Our other fury family member knew when our precious pet passed as was able to give him a once over sniff and walked away knowing he was gone. The process was so dignified and peaceful and our second precious pet does not howl or pine for the first one like we have had in years past when one went to the vets and never came back. I highly recommend this at home euthanasia as a a “final gift” of passing to your fury family member. Dr. Paula was very calming and our precious pet felt very comfortable around her instantly. She walked us through every step of the process and the whole process was very dignified from start to coming back with his ashes and paw print. Dr. Paula is Professional andcompassionate. She never rushed us. We highly recommend her as both a Veterinarian and the person to call when the time comes to say good bye to your precious pet. Thank you Dr. Paula.

Winnie the Pooh said, “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard”.
And how lucky we all were to have you to help make it easier. I’ll also miss catching up with you on a monthly basis. Thank you for everything, you’ve been and angel in our dogs’ lives.

Thank you so much for your responsiveness and kindness as we said our final goodbyes to Nicky. We couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful and supportive end to his life. We know that Nicky and Felicia are together again – waiting for us.

Thanks so very much for your care and compassion with our Bonnie. She was not easy, we know! But her tenacity and will to live is very inspiring. It’s hard to believe she’s gone.
I enclosed a photo we took the day we adopted her.
Thank you again! We wish you the very best.

Dr. Monte was so thoughtful and caring in a very difficult time with our dog Chase. She talked me through all of my options and was very caring with him when she came to our house. Her follow up call to check on me meant more than she will ever know!

We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking such good care of our sweet girl Georgia. As difficult as it was to say goodbye, you made it such a beautiful and peaceful transition. We are truly grateful.

Two weeks ago, we had to bid farewell to our beloved boy Tobey. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for Dr. Paula Monte, a caring and compassionate professional who played a crucial role in Tobey’s well-being. Dr. Paula not only assisted us with acupuncture sessions to provide comfort for Tobey but also guided us through the difficult decision of helping him cross the rainbow bridge.
We deeply appreciate Dr. Paula’s dedication to her work and mission. As Tobey’s farewell approached, it was crucial for us that he be surrounded by the love and familiarity of home. Dr. Paula’s presence and support during this challenging time were invaluable. We will always be thankful for her kindness and expertise in helping Tobey and us find comfort in his final moments.

Thank you so much for helping us through one of our toughest times with care and compassion. We appreciate it very much.

Dr. Paula Monte provided kind and compassionate care both when treating our pup with Accupuncture and then when we made the difficult decision to say goodbye. Having the option for home care really provides comfort for the pet and family and I’m so thankful Dr. Paula helped us with these transitions.

I couldn’t have chosen a more compassionate and skilled vet to help me say goodbye with my beloved Minky. Dr. Paula helped me every step of the way on this very difficult journey, from guiding me to decide when it’s time to coming to my home at short notice. I am tremendously grateful for her thoughtfulness and caring. Thank you Dr. Paula.

Shortly before our 12 year old Golden started having seizures, we connected with Dr. Monte who, over the next 2.9 years, gave monthly acupuncture to Trix. I truly believe that the acupuncture along with his traditional medication prolonged his life. When it was time to say goodbye last month, Dr. Monte came to the house and provided the most peaceful and compassionate ending for our sweet boy. We are so grateful we were able to send him to the stars with a dignified passing in the comfort of home. Dr. Monte handled everything professionally and we couldn’t recommend her more highly.

Dr. Paula was wonderful! Very thoughtful and compassionate!

Dr. Paula was a calming and compassionate presence when we had to say goodbye to our 14-year-old dog. She carefully explained the process to us and said all of the right things as he passed. We appreciate her gentle and kind demeanor. She handled a very tough situation with grace.

Warmth, Gentleness, So supportive and validating.  Thank you from all of my family.

My boy Riley passed away last weekend. Dr Paula came to my home and made the experience gentle for him. He was surrounded by people that loved him in his familiar surroundings The process was smooth and Dr Paula was sensitive and caring. It’s never easy but this is the way to go if you can. Highly recommend!

Thank you Dr. Paula. You made the experience of Maddie moving on from us as beautiful as possible.
Forever grateful, Michelle and Tim G.

So essential …. to our health and well being to have our canine friends receive such loving care.

I like the face that you come to my home to Lanti feels more comfortable and she does seem happier. Thank you.

Dr. Monte was amazing. She was somehow able to come out when our boy was struggling and helped him to be at rest. We can’t thank her enough.

Began working with Dr. Paula in October of 2022. Her acupuncture treatments gave my Rhodesian Ridgeback another year of quality life. And when it was time to say goodbye, it was the most peaceful experience for our family. 14+ years of quality life – Thank you Paula! So grateful.

She was great in a time that was difficult for us.

Dr. Paula is compassionate and understanding. She takes time to carefully explain the procedure, including the ‘how and why’. She is VERY gentle with both pet and pet owner. Paperwork and financial information is covered prior to her visit so that detail does not interfere with an already difficult day.  We HIGHLY recommend her. –Betty & Rick S.

Dr. Paula Monte created the most peaceful, compassionate, and painless end-of-life experience for our dog, Ollie.  She is calm, professional and knowledgeable. Upon arrival, Dr. Paula prepared my husband and I by telling us what to expect and answered our questions during the procedure. At no time did we ever feel rushed, in face she encouraged us to take as much time as we needed with Ollie after he passed.  I highly recommend in-home euthanasia.

Dr. Monte made an unbearable situation a little better. We were on vacation when our dog Hazel began to show serious distress from advanced arthritis. After being turned away from no less than 12 vet offices and in-home vets, Dr. Monte was able to come to our house. Her compassion towards Hazel and ourselves helped us feel a little better about saying goodbye to our sweet girl.

Dr. Paula provided us with a very peaceful passing for our beloved dog, Wonka. She guided us by explaining exactly what was to come which comforted us. We are grateful 💕

Dr. Monte was so kind and really explained everything so well. She made a hard day a little less hard.

The conversation and earnest interest in us and the well-being of our dog were of primary importance!

It was an amazing experience. So personal and professional. It was a beautiful way for our pet to pass. Thank You again so much.

So compassionate. Said just the right things at the right time. Wonderful care.

Comforting experience. Paula was amazing.

Thank you for your professionalism and above all, your compassion.

Dr Monte came to the house to euthanize our beloved pet Sterling. He was not stressed with leaving the house and going to her offices. She communicated via text and reconfirmed her arrival time, was very empathetic during this difficult time and made the process very easy. Thank you. Donna

My dogs loved you. Looking forward to walks with Bruschi again. And many more happy years with Holly.
Thank you.

Dr. Monte is proof that angels are amongst us. My contact with David revealed supportive and compassionate services were at hand. Dr Monte was punctual, supportive, and provided everything I could have asked for with regards to the passing of my 4 legged companion.

In a time when compassion is so limited, you will find a reservoir of it here.

I am so grateful,
Chris

Dr. Paula is the best ❣️

Thank you so much, Dr. Paula. Although the circumstances in which we met were terrible, our experience with you was un-measurable.
Your kindness and compassion was so appreciated. Laying our Mary Jane to rest was heart breaking but we felt so much better doing it at home.
Thank you for your support and compassion.

Dr. Paula was absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend her for anyone dealing with end of life issues. She came to our home and helped our sweet boy Larry cross over the rainbow bridge and we will be forever grateful

Thank you for all you do!  The world wouldn’t be the same without your magic.

We honestly can’t thank you enough for making the experience so peaceful, so comfortable, surrounded by love.  We are so grateful.  You’ll always be an angel in our eyes.  Thank you for everything.

Dr. Paula, as I heard beforehand from others, you were wonderful – calming, genuine, loving.

Thank you again for making this service your calling.

Prompt response, good info thru the process and the kind of compassion and respect that is deserved in this difficult time.

Dr. Paula is superb.  We were strangers to one another until I telephoned her, during an extended period when we were miles from home, for advice and assistance as our family dog, Lulu, reached the end of her 18 month cancer journey.  She was immediately responsive, accessible, warm and professional.  We were new to euthanasia, and she gently but thoroughly walked us through the process.  She ws exceedingly flexible with us as well and understood our ambivalence.  In fact, we scheduled and cancelled more than one appointment with her, but she remained available and attentive to us.  My family met her only once, the day that she came to our home.  her warm presence and professionalism were exceedingly reassuring during the time that we were together.  I can not recommend her to pet owners enough.  She is truly superb.

Dr. Monte was so kind. the whole experience was loving and thoughtful and exactly what I wanted for our boy.

Dr. Monte was wonderful.  She listened to our concerns, answered our questions and showed great compassion and respect to our beloved girl and us.  We are lucky to have this service available to us with such caring vets.

It was such a peaceful experience.
You walked into a situation where you didn’t know any of us yet you immediately put us all at ease.
Bristal had the dignified peaceful ending she deserved.  She got me through some really rough times after my husband died.  It was the last connection with him.
I especially liked that you talked to her and told her she could run free.
That really touched my heart that you cared so much and showed her so much love.
Thank you and i am filled with gratitude for your care.

We just wanted to thank you for all you did for our princess, Ruby.  She crossed over the rainbow bridge with complete peace.  You were so patient, gentle and compassionate and for that I will forever be thankful.

You are truly and angel.  We absolutely lover her box of ashes and her paw print.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

Along with my grief over the loss of Bishop comes the comfort of knowing his passing was managed with care and compassion.  I will always remember and be grateful for your kindness during this.

I respect technical skill but what truly sets skilled healers apart is their humanity & you’re clearly one of the best.

Thank you.

I contacted Dr. Paula Monte for our 6-year-Old 17″ Beagle Gilligan. We are very active people and Gilly loves to hike in VT, run on Cape beaches & play ball. Over about 2 week period we noticed him slowing down. Then he suddenly was in huge pain and could not go up one step. We took him to our local Vet who told us to keep him quiet for a couple of weeks and had him take an anti-inflammatory pill. He was a little better but not close to himself.

Dr. Monte arrived at our home and examined Gilly. She commented on how long his back & tail are and he was likely out of line. She also suggested we not have him jump a lot like he was for a ball. I kept his attention while the Doc adjusted his spine. This dog never wants to be touched on his feet or hind legs. It was amazing he just sat still and knew she was helping. Gilligan was back! He got up, ran in circles, and did the first head-to-tail shake we had seen in weeks.

Thanks, Doc. He continues to do well and we only throw ground balls now.

Polly & Larry S.

Dr. Paula Monte is a caring and compassionate Vet. I highly recommend her to be your vet to help your sick pet and the end of their life.

My wife and I could not be more happy with our experience. In such a sad time we were made to feel comforted with reassuring words and kindness.
Thank you so much.

Dr. Paula is a treasure who brings comfort & peace and end to suffering, enabling us to make the final loving act for our beloved companions.

Prompt response, good info thru the process and the kind of compassion and respect that is deserved in this difficult time.

Dr. Monte is wonderful! Both our pets are improving and so much better for them to be treated at home.
Jane

Paula was most amazing to our family in a very difficult time. She helped us to make the right decision for our dog and supported us through the whole process. She even checked in with us after to see how we were doing. I would highly recommend her for her services. Thanks for all you did Paula and all you continue to do for the health and well being of our beloved pets.
-Caitlin S.

Dr. Monte is a superb, compassionate and skilled veterinarian. She came into our lives when we had to end the suffering of our wonderful dog Darwin. Paula guided us through the process with wisdom, experience and patience and ensured that we came through with loving memories. We were able to be with Darwin in the peace and quiet of our home and she comforted all of us along the way. Dr. Monte is the consummate professional and I would recommend her to anyone seeking an exceptional veterinarian.
-Jonathan G.

Dr. Paula is wonderful! I have used her chiropractic services multiple times and each time has been a great experience. My dogs and I love her and we really appreciate her home-based approach, which keeps everyone more comfortable. Even though I’ve scheduled appointments with a focus on chiropractic care, she evaluates each dog overall and each appointment has given me better insight to my dogs’ needs.

I simply can not say enough about Dr. Paula’s care. My beloved 12 1/2 year old Lucy was receiving Acupuncture from Dr. Paula for several months and it and she were so beneficial to Lucy’s well being, comfort and not to mention mine! When it eventually came time to put my Lucy down, Paula was there for me within 45 minutes notice and so lovingly helped me through the hardest decision and moment of my life. You immediately know from your first meeting with Dr. Paula that she is the right decision for any care for your pet. Whenever the time comes for me to rescue another dog, Paula will be in our lives for Acupuncture. I can not say enough about her, her services, her love and care and that bringing her into you and your pets life will be the right decision. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Dr. Paula for everything.
-With so much love, Jenn M, Lucy’s mom. xx

Dr. Paula was professional and compassionate and treated our dog shadow as if she was her own. She became part of our family and for that I will always be grateful!
-Steve G.

Dr. Paula Monte is awesome! Our GSP Gracie had her sacrum in torsion after rough puppy play. Dr. Monte spotted it right away when no one else ( even the primary care vet) did. She straightened it out with some simple adjustments and Gracie immediately expressed relief, indicating the treatment was successful!
I am certain Dr. Paula’s treatments will save Gracie from more serious arthritic type problems later in life. THANK YOU DR PAULA!
-Caroline C.

I can’t say enough about the care we have received from Dr. Monte. My 2 year old Airedale Ellie was diagnosed with hip dysplasia 6 months ago and we have been having acupuncture treatments since with great results. Ellie is able to enjoy the dog parK with comfort and improved quality of life. Dr. Monte is always on time, professional and compassionate. I highly recommend her and acupuncture.
-Gloria H.

Dr. Paula is a wonderful vet and person. She made a barn call to put my old lab down so I did not have to take her into the office. My Abbie died peacefully in her stall with her head on my feet and a treat in her mouth. I had never met her yet she was willing to come out and help.
She is compassionate and caring and you would be lucky to have her in your world.
-Christine M.

Dr. Paula Monte is fabulous. My 17 YO Bichon, Bella, was in renal failure and it was time for her to pass on. My vet would not allow me to be with my deaf, blind old dog who, on a good day, was terrified of the vet. A colleague of mine recommended Dr. Monte. For anyone who has owned a pet, we know that a time will come where we might have to put them to sleep. Dr. Monte rearranged her afternoon schedule and came to my home. I held my little Bella in my arms, rocking her and telling how much I loved her. Dr. Monte slipped a sedative under her skin and she just fell asleep in my arms. We then placed her in her bed, with me still holding her and Dr. Monte placed a small butterfly in her hind leg, giving her medication. She just stopped beating and breathing. She allowed me all the time I needed to say goodbye, and then I carried my Bella to her car, where she wrapped her in a blanket to take her to be cremated. Over the weekend Dr. Monte contacted me to see how I was doing. She returned her ashes to my door the next week, reiterating what a kind decision I had made to end my dog’s suffering. I have had to put 56 animals down in my time and this was the most peaceful euthanasia I have ever experienced. I am an acute care NP…so sad we cannot give our terminal patients the same peaceful passing. Dr. Monte, you are a gift and I cannot express how you took such a difficult time and made it gentle and peaceful..I will forever be grateful.
-Lauren, MSN, RN, ACNP-BC, Bella’s mama

Dr. Paula has been giving acupuncture treatment to my disabled girl Cleary, who is a rescue from Mississippi. Dr. Paula’s treatment has been so helpful in Cleary’s journey. We are seeing a difference & I and so grateful to the professionals on Cleary’s team. Especially Dr. Paula, who is so kind, professional and caring. Highly recommend her.
-Deb C.

We met Dr. Paula on the day we had to say goodbye to our beloved Lewis. She is the most caring and compassionate person. Her calm and loving approach made one of the saddest times of our lives peaceful. We are so grateful to her for being such an amazingly caring human.

“Can’t say enough great things.”

“I literally can’t thank you enough. I feel like I still hear his paws clinking on the floors. He was so peaceful. Thank you so much.”

“Best bedside manner, personality, and most importantly, care and concern for my dog’s health.”

“My family and I met Dr. Paula exactly 11 weeks ago today. It was a gorgeous July Cape Cod afternoon when this beautiful human pulled into our driveway. This day also marks 11 weeks since my handsome, high energy, lover of life and all things tennis balls & ocean swimming 4-year-old golden retriever, Jaxson, lost his brief, but valiant battle with cancer. Dr. Paula and I exchanged several messages prior to our meeting, but it wasn’t until she stepped out of her SUV that I truly realized she was one of the best decisions I could make in Jax’s final days. Words will NEVER capture the beauty of this woman and her practice. Intellectually, I understood how busy she was, but emotionally, I never realized until she pulled away from our home, how much time, compassion and care she provided me and my family in our most difficult moments, despite her schedule. Losing Jaxson was unexpected and tragic, but in his passing, I realized that finding Dr. Paula was a blessing. In the weeks that followed, Dr Paula pulled that same SUV into our driveway to hand deliver Jaxson’s ashes to me & if it wasn’t for COVID-19, I would have thrown my arms around her in gratitude, as she was an angel in our darkest of days. We love you, Dr. Paula & are beyond grateful for your care.” – Paige C

“I can’t say enough about Dr. Paula and the experience of having her come to the house to put our cat to sleep. She was so gentle, kind, comforting and professional during this difficult time. The best thing about this service is my cat was not stressed and was in his own home with his family which made the process more peaceful.” – Leah G.

“I highly recommend Paula. She is professional, caring , thoughtful , compassionate , punctual , generous and wonderful”. – Annie K.

“We loved Dr. Monte who treated our golden, Wylie, a few times with acupuncture. So great that she comes to your home, where Wylie was comfortable vs. going to a vet’s business. Would highly recommend Dr. Monte! – Barbara M.

“Dr. Monte treated my Fitsum over the years and kept him moving and happy until it was his time. She help us on a Sunday at home and Fitsum died peacefully in my arms. I am so blessed to have met her. She made this very sad process so much easier and gentle for all of us. I am forever grateful. – Beth L.

“I can’t thank Dr. Monte enough for her kindness. The world has been in such chaos and we had all but given up hope in finding a gentle ending at home for our beloved 12 year old dog. Dr. Monte helped us so much that day in saying goodbye to our dog in a safe but also kind way in our backyard. – Catie F.

“I was very happy to spend the final hours with my very fragile Kabuki before he passed. Dr. Paula was gentle with kitty and very understanding of what I felt. She explained the euthanasia process completely and because we did this in our home, our other kitty got his chance to comfort and say goodbye. – Christina H.

“Dr. Paula has been my “go to” acupuncturist for both my current rescue cocker spaniel, Merry as well her predecessor, Cody. Dr. Paula was invaluable during Cody’s life for her empathy and compassion as well as her professional skill in treating a rescue who tended to be highly anxious. As Cody’s health declined, Dr. Paula was an immense help to me in understanding the gift that we give in euthanasia.

Merry, shortly after I rescued her, damaged her stifle, so acupuncture with Dr. Paula was my first thought as part of Merry’s get well plan. Today, Merry enjoys life fully, running around the yard after squirrels.

I cannot recommend Dr. Paula highly enough – she is a blessing for pets and their people.” – Diane G .

“I highly recommend Dr. Paula! She has been seeing my horse for many years now and has made a huge difference in how he feels. She really cares about her patients.” – Dianna.

“We are delighted to recommend Dr. Paula Monte. She was a great help in dealing with the final weeks of our beloved Luke, a 14-year old black English Labrador retriever, whom we had got in 2005 as a puppy. By the end of 2018 Luke was failing, He was deaf, blind, incontinent and arthritic. Our vet thought a course of acupuncture might give him some relief from the arthritis and referred us to Dr. Monte. She came to our house several times and dealt beautifully with Luke, who was completely relaxed while she placed all the needles. This helped somewhat, but it soon was clear that the effects didn’t last. At that point Dr. Monte recommended we stop the acupuncture, which we did. Subsequently, Luke’s physical situation deteriorated to the point he could not longer get up, stand or walk. We called Dr. Monte again and she came to our house very promptly. After examining Luke carefully, she agreed it was time to put him down. She did this with great compassion and professionalism, and his end was very quick and peaceful. She took care of his cremation and very promptly gave us his ashes and the related documents. Throughout our dealings with her, Dr. Monte was most kind, compassionate and professional. We thought her charges were reasonable. We highly recommend Dr. Monte for anyone whose pet may be facing the end of its life.” – J&E

“My dog, Hershey, has been suffering for over 3 years. One of his favorite things is an off-leash walk, especially if it involves socializing with other dogs. Unfortunately, his walks have had to become less frequent & less strenuous as he has become more lame. He is only 5 years old, & my requests for x-rays were discouraged, as I was told that his problem was arthritis. I was advised that having him lose 5-7 pounds should make a difference, however it did not. His condition continued to worsen. We changed vets, getting a 2nd & 3rd opinion. We tried a prescription anti-inflammatory, glucosamine, a steroid regimen, CBD supplements, anything we could think of. My last resort was to call Dr. Paula Monte, hoping acupuncture might ease Hershey’s pain. She returned my call quickly & made a special effort, even during the coronavirus pandemic, to schedule a prompt appointment. She comes to your home, which is so much more comfortable for your pet. Within 3 minutes of entering the house & having Hershey greet her, she watched him walk & said she was afraid he’d suffered either a torn meniscus or a torn ACL. She performed some additional tests, confirming her original suspicions, then spent lots of time sharing her recommendations. She referred me to a surgeon, offering to share her insights with him, once I’d set an appointment. She offered to administer an acupuncture treatment if that’s what I wanted, but was so honest with me in advising that it wouldn’t have much affect. Dr. Paula is friendly, personable, caring & definitely wants what is best for your pet. While I was not happy that 3 vets were unable to diagnose Hershey’s issue, I am actually glad that my search led me to Dr. Paula, as I have great faith that she has pointed us in the right direction, & that Hershey will have several active years ahead.” – Jean L.

“Dr. Monte came to my home on July 3rd when I knew I couldn’t let my Belle go through the long holiday weekend. She deteriorated rapidly and I couldn’t let her suffer. It was late in the day, Dr. Monte was compassionate and professional. Belle did not suffer under her care. Dr. Monte allowed us all the time we needed to say goodbye to our beloved Belle. I am forever grateful for her help during this very sad time. We received Belle’s remains in a short time along with a beautiful card with the story of the Rainbow Bridge, a packet of Forget-Me-Not seeds and a sweet pin in the shape of a paw encircled by a halo. If you ever have the need for in home euthanasia for your pet you would be fortunate to have Dr. Monte see you through this difficult time. ” – Joanne U.

“We had to put our 17 and a half year old pug down in December. Out of five rescue dogs we have had, he was the only one we had raised as a puppy. He was the son I never had and one of the family – our little loveable clown that everyone fell in love with. There was never a doubt in my mind that I wouldn’t have him euthanized in our home when the day came. I couldn’t imagine it any other way. He had to be where he was comfortable and surrounded by people who loved him. When that time sadly came, I was referred to Dr. Monte through my vet’s office. I am beyond grateful to have met her! Dr. Monte was compassionate, kind, patient, gentle, loving – and so professional despite the nature of the business. As awful and difficult as this is, I would refer Dr. Monte to anyone looking for in-home services and will surely call on her again for my other furry family members. ” – Jodi M.

“Dr. Monte came into our lives at perhaps the most difficult time for any dog owner. Our beautiful retriever mix Darwin was ill and we had to make the decision to end his suffering. We reached out to Dr. Monte who was immediately responsive and carefully guided us through the decision making process. She was kind and thoughtful, professional and patient and gentle and loving with Darwin and with us. She came to our home and facilitated our final time with Darwin that to this day still comforts us with his memories. I am a retired pediatrician and have considerable familiarity with death and dying and was incredibly impressed by Dr. Monte in every aspect of her professional behavior. I recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and wise veterinarian. ” -Jonathan G.

“We will forever be grateful for the love, care, and kindness we were shown in our dog Murphy’s final hours from Dr. Monte. After making the difficult decision to say goodbye to Murphy, Dr. Monte came to our home and helped us realize that our decision was the right one for him. She spoke to us and him with such kindness, explained everything we needed to know. She gave us time to say goodbye to our sweet boy and grieve after. She was professional, understanding, and caring. We were thankful to have Murphy up on our bed, relaxed in his happy place with his family surrounding him, holding him, helping him feel safe, ,and being able to be there telling him what a good boy he was and how much we love him as he left us. It was by far the worst day of my life, but Dr. Paula truly helped ease the pain of it all. She took care of all the details that I wouldn’t have been able to handle. Truly, forever grateful. ” – Kathleen T.

“This past November we had to make the heartbreaking decision to send our beloved 14 yo Kenai over the rainbow bridge due to Cancer. He went from walking one day to being unable to get up the next. We made the decision it was time but we absolutely wanted him to pass at home. Dr Paula Monte rearranged her schedule and came to our home that night. She was so kind and gentle and compassionate and gave us such peace of mind helping our buddy pass peacefully in his home surrounded by the people who loved him. She was wonderful. A few days later we received a beautiful, heartfelt note as well. Thank you Dr Monte for making such a difficult time so peaceful. ” – Kerrie S.

“The care and knowledge that Dr. Paula provides are priceless – no words can adequately describe how much her presence got us through one of the hardest experiences an animal lover can go through. I recommend her to everyone whose animals need treatments to make them more comfortable or end of life care. She’s the best! ” – Lauren C.

“It is a very sad day when one must euthanize a much loved pet, and the very thought of taking our much loved basset hound to the veterinary clinic one last time was overwhelming. I contacted Dr. Monte on the advice of a friend, and from that moment on she walked me through the experience with compassion and expertise. She came to my home and we discussed the procedure together. Cooper had a beautiful death, and I was able to see him pass peacefully. Although we miss him, we have been greatly comforted to know that we did the right thing, at the right time, in the right place. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Monte for her support. ” -Linda L

There is a noticeable improvement in my dog’s abilities and seemingly her comfort level after a treatment. Dr. Monte comes to my house for the treatment and gives in-home special attention to my dog. I don’t think my dog would have lasted this long without the care of Dr. Monte. I highly recommend her. ” -Lisa P.

“Jake has been getting acupuncture treatments for 4 years from Dr. Paula Monte and the results have been amazing. He was diagnosed with arthritis down his left back leg and his spine. Jake was having a hard time getting around and Dr. Monte was recommended to me. After Jake started his treatments he was back to rolling and playing in the yard. He gets treatments once a month and they are well worth it. He actually falls asleep during them. My little old man Jake is now 13 1/2 and doing well thanks to Dr. Monte. ” -Michelle D.

“Our beloved Boston Terrier, Mia, was nearing the end of her struggle with heart problems and blindness. It was an agonizing decision to let her go, but we were extremely fortunate to find Dr. Paula. She was so kind and compassionate! Mia was able to be at home in familiar surroundings, and we were able to hold her as she ate her favorite ice cream, then slipped peacefully away to join her mother over the rainbow bridge. Dr. Paula comforted us and contacted us a little while after to see how we were doing, and to let us know that we had made the right decision. We had to let Mia’s mom go while in our former Vet’s office, and being at home was so much better for all of us. We highly recommend Dr. Paula for anyone facing the heart wrenching loss of a pet. There is no place like home and we hope she continues to offer this very needed service. ” -Patricia L.

“As difficult as it was to make the decision to put our baby to sleep, Dr. Paula was an absolute angel that made the process more comfortable. During this Covid-19 crisis we were horrified to hear that our local vet office was not able to accommodate both of us in the end of our Amber’s life. And that the one of us allowed in would have to be wrapped in full gown and mask. Our poor kitty would have not had the comfort of our smell or touch, but gloves and gowns in her final moments. Dr. Paula came to our home on a moments notice, and thankfully it fit into her schedule. She had no knowledge of us and she risked her own health donning mask and glove to help our baby to the other side and out of pain. She explained the whole process and took the time to be certain that we were comfortable because we have never been through this before. In our most uncomfortable moment Dr. Paula was so sympathetic we feel like we had a family member and empathic soul with us in every way. Thank you so much Dr. Paula. ” -Stephanie M.

She was the most compassionate person that we have ever met regarding our pets. She gave us time to say goodbye, treated Brody with love and soothing words as he was passing over the Rainbow Bridge. She was gentle with him even after he had passed. We know someone who has also used Dr. Paula’s service for canine acupuncture with great results. We love you, Dr. Paula. “I was referred to Dr. Paula by my German Shepherd’s vet, who thought she would be able to treat Sasha’s mobility issues with her hindquarters due to degenerative myelopathy. We first met Dr. Paula in July 2019 when she came to our house to meet and assess Sasha’s condition. She recommended chiropractic adjustments and acupuncture therapy to help with Sasha’s mobility and comfort. Since that time, Dr. Paula has been making monthly house calls to treat Sasha, which is such a convenience. She is always on time and Sasha is always happy to see her. When we knew that nothing more could be done for him we asked our vet for the name of a Dr. that would be able to come to our home & help us through this most difficult time. My husband & I made the difficult decision to have our precious companion of 10 years put to sleep. I had spoken to Dr. Paula a few times, on the phone, before we actually met her in person. But, from the moment she walked into our home my husband, our beloved Cody & I knew how loving and compassionate she was. She was more than a vet. Dr. Paula was able to comfort us as well as Cody. “My name is Mackenzie. I am an eight year old Cairn terrier. I had acupuncture with Dr. Paula. I was diagnosed by a neurologist with a compressed disk. I was in considerable pain and was limping. My parents had to keep me crated for six weeks. I missed interacting with my family. After the six weeks I was still limping, but there was some improvement. Dr. Paula came highly recommended to my parents. They decided to try it thinking it was a much better option than surgery with no guarantees. We had four treatments and my limp was gone. We have since had two follow up treatments just to keep me on track. I am now running and my mother says acting like a puppy. The treatment wasn’t painful and I highly recommend it. Dr. Paula is kind, compassionate and very gentle. ” -written as Mackenzie H.

“Our grouchy off the track thoroughbred loved when Dr. Monte adjusted him. Normally he tries to bite when grooming him but she made him feel so much better that he just stands on the cross ties totally at ease. He was much straighter when ridden after the adjustment and there was much less head tilting. She is very gentle with all my horses and each one is very relaxed while she works on them. I highly recommend her. ” -Stefanie G.

“Dr. Paula was a Godsend when the time came for us to put down our sixteen year old chocolate lab, Haley Boo. We had never had to do this before and Dr. Paula came highly recommended. I reached out to Dr. Paula via text message and even though she was out of town on a personal matter, she still took the time to respond quickly. When she came to our house, she sat on the floor with Haley as she talked to us about what she was going to do and what to expect. She said we could take as long as we wanted to say goodbye, there was no rush. Dr. Paula was gentle and kind and made the whole heartbreaking experience very peaceful for us. “Dr. Paula is an angel! When my best friend Max started collapsing and had difficulty getting up and moving she was recommended to me. She treated Max with chiropractic treatment, acupuncture and herbal medicine. The results were miraculous and because of Dr. Paula my dog and I enjoyed another six months of fun together. On Easter day I texted her and she got right back to me like she always does! Poor Max could barely move anymore and I knew the best gift I could give him at this point was a peaceful passing. She even offered to come over on Easter Sunday if I needed her. The next morning she was at my home and we said our goodbyes to Max. What a peaceful, un-rushed, loving way to leave this world. I highly recommend Dr Paula’s veterinary services to anyone I can. She turned a dreaded time to a beautiful, peaceful time and her medical expertise and compassion extended the time I got to spend with my best friend Max. I can never thank you enough Dr. Paula.” – Lynne M.

“Dr. Paula has given our golden retriever Finnegan a second life. I have no doubt that the acupuncture treatments he receives from Dr. Paula has given him and us extra time. At 10 years old Finnegan started loosing the use of his back legs, his muscles just weren’t working for him anymore. He was depressed and seemed like he was just too tired to try any more. We had tried everything for him and acupuncture was our last hope. He is now almost 13 and just the happiest guy ever and loves his walks out on the trails. Dr. Paula is so great with him and so gentle, he absolutely loves seeing her and loves his treatments. Best thing we have ever done for him.” – Amy W.

“I met Dr. Monte 2 years ago when she came to our home to treat my precious Norwegian Elkhound Mae. I was so happy to find a holistic vet on Cape Cod that made house visits as Mae was in the last month of her life. Dr. Monte was absolutely wonderful both as a knowledgeable vet and compassionate human being. She helped our Mae be more comfortable and when the time came to say goodbye we were able to be with her, right here at home. That really helped my husband and I. Most importantly it helped our little angel Mae. Thank you, Dr. Monte, for helping us at a very difficult time. Animal lovers are lucky to have you here on Cape Cod.” – Anne B.

“December 24, 2018, our very large English Mastiff Rufus collapsed coming down the stairs. Something gave in his hips/back and he was in extreme pain. He weighed 250 lbs so I had a lot of trouble just getting him off the stairs and onto a cushion. Called our regular vet to see if they could recommend a mobile vet to help us. They referred us to Dr. Monte. Hopeful she would respond, I called and left a voice message. She responded right after and although she was at another appointment she would be able to come over right after that. Dr. Monte was so professional and comforting to us in an extremely troubling time. She even had her husband come by to help move Rufus into his truck. Not a fun Christmas eve day, but Dr. Monte and family were most comforting in such a difficult time. We will be forever grateful.” – Doug S.

“My faithful friend was failing, my heart was breaking. A local animal hospital had done all they could to keep her comfortable. They told me about Dr. Paula Monte and the work she was doing with acupuncture.

After sixteen years and living in three different places Emma and I had seen many wonderful vets – none more wonderful than Dr. Paula. She is truly special. Her compassion and love of animals reached right into my heart. Her care of Emma gave us the happiest 8 weeks of our summer. I will be forever grateful that Dr. Paula came into our lives and was able to put the sparkle back into Emma’s eyes and allow her to live out her life on her terms without the pain that was making her life a struggle.

This was not about extending Emma’s life it was all about giving her quality back into her life. She had the heart to keep going a little longer and Dr. Paula gave us that time.” – Gail R.

“We are grateful for Dr. Paula’s chiropractic and acupuncture care of our now 14 1/2-year-old Aussie, Oliver. He has always been happy to see her arrive over the past few years.

She has been patient with the patient, even though he might shake the needles off at times! Usually, he moves a lot better after her visit and seems to be less stressed.

We definitely recommend Dr. Paula. She is professional and caring.” – Marilyn M.
